Welcome to Our February Newsletter! |

Thank you for supporting Starr Leadership Group and subscribing to our newsletter! If you are wondering what happened to the January edition, you didn't miss it; I never sent it. I could have been more thoughtful about my overall capacity, but instead, I committed to delivering three events within a 36-hour period in mid-January. After a relaxing holiday season, developing the content was a mad rush, and then the ice and windstorm hit Portland. We were without power for 70 hours, despite having solar panels and limited battery backup and storage. I had to pivot two events from live to virtual at the last minute, including delivering one from our backup battery system. It was a bit intense. I learned a great deal, not only about resilience but also about effective planning. I hope this newsletter finds you and yours safe from whatever weather has affected your area. Here's our February content!

We are approximately one-third of the way through Q1 2024. How are you doing with your annual and quarterly goals?
As we discussed in our November newsletter, goals and results don't magically happen. I am using the framework outlined in the article to achieve my goals and wanted to update you on my progress for accountability and to demonstrate how the framework leads to results. |

Goal #1 was finding a dog sitter who understands Jake's needs. Good news: an acquaintance posted on Facebook that they are getting into pet sitting. She's a mature adult who might be a good fit. I will be reaching out to schedule a meet and greet within the next 30 days. Additionally, I have found two sets of college and high school siblings interested in watching Jake this summer. Their parents are dear friends and close by, so if something were to happen, help is near. Greg and I also prioritized our vacations for 2024, so that helps with dates and overall planning. So I am on track :)
Goal #2 was related to health. I committed to booking three strength training sessions with my neighbor, Adam, by Sunday evening. I need to catch up to the goal of three, but I'm consistently hitting two. I can't say we've scheduled the sessions by Sunday evening, but they are on the calendar by Monday evening! I am falling short, but consistency is critical, so I'll take a solid start and build from here.
What goals do you have this quarter? How are you progressing towards them? It's not too late if you don't have goals for 2024! We offer ad hoc coaching sessions for those who want to meet once or twice to get their year on track. Click here to schedule a free consultation

Do you need a rebalance?
I'm not sure if we're unique, but this time of year, Greg and I set aside an evening to discuss the prior year, what went well and what didn't, and any changes we want to make in the upcoming year. We also prioritize vacations, family events, and other important aspects. We do the same with our finances. We examine our spending habits and take the time to rebalance our 401 (k) s and retirement funds. |

Just like our finances need an annual tune-up, what about YOU? The Wheel of Life template and assessment is a way to give your priorities, time, and energy a quick tune-up. This simple tool provides a snapshot of various aspects of your life, including your current situation and your desired future. This short exercise can help you determine what subtle (or not-so-subtle) tweaks you want to make this year. While coaches often use this tool, you don't need a coach to use it, and it's free. This tool and goal-setting will set you up for an incredible year!
